Google+ gets Angry Birds, Sudoku, Edgeworld and more

| Monday, August 15

Google wasted little time bringing browser games to their growing social networking site. Today the company began rolling out a gaming service on Google+, similar to what Facebook has been doing for years.
The search giant is making it clear from the get-go that they don’t plan to shove game updates and notifications down your throats like Facebook does. They want games to be “there when you want them and gone when you don’t”.
All game-related updates will fall under a separate Games tab at the top of your feed. This is great news if you hate constant Farmville and Mafia Wars requests.
Games for Google+ has started rolling out already but according to the company blog, updating the entire network will be a slow process that is expected to take several days.
Launch titles include Edgeworld, Angry Birds, Sudoku, City of Wonder and more. Google Engineering Director David Glazer said that they have intentionally launched with a low number of partners in order to work out all of the kinks with the APIs and get end-user feedback before expanding to include more partners and games.
Google+ launched less than two months ago and has seen overwhelming success since its debut. The trendy social networking site lured 20 million users in just three weeks and likely has several million more by now.
Google has taken what they deem as the best qualities from multiple networking communities and rolled them into a single package. Aspects of blogging, Twitter, newsletters and e-mail are some of the key features found in Google+.

Google Makes Video Chat In Gmail More Easier

Gmail has offered voice, video and group chat for quite a while. To use their feature it requires users to install a plug-in first. It's not the most intuitive or straight-forward tool to use. That's why Google updated it little bit.
Now, rather than interacting with the menus to initiate video, voice, or group chats, Google has added three little icons that make it a cinch. Simply press the graphic of the one you want to do, and bingo, you're video chatting.
But what do you do if your friend doesn't have the necessary plug-in? Google now has yet another icon that, when clicked, will invite your friend to install the plug-in. Google already did something similar with iGoogle and Orkut. Google says users will still be able to "go off the record," block people, and send SMS messages from chat.

Google debuts ” What do you love”- All in one search

| Tuesday, August 2

Google debuted another new service from its bag. Just browsing through Google search, I saw something new on Google search Homepage.  A new line was there below the Google Search Box i.e.
” Polar bears? Space travel? Chocolate cake? What do you love?”

If you click on ” What do you loe”, you are taken to a new URL wdyl.com which is the home page for What do you love. The page says, its a service from Google. Just enter a keyword in the box just like you do for Google search and on the next page you will find loads of information, but different from Google search results.

I typed “Kaspersky” as keyword and on next page, got a whole lot of information. It looks like Google has tried to combine everything into a single page. Just have a look at the screenshot to know what I am talking about. You can see results like Image search, Email alerts,  Patents, Books, debate, Google voice calling, Youtube videos, Maps, Blogger, Groups, Mobile and much more.

I am not sure exactly what they want to do with this new service, but may be they are combining everything to build a new product just like they did with Google Plus.
