Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, one of the world's largest suppliers of high-performance hard drives, today announced the extension of its range of Ultrastar drives for applications, Enterprise Storage announced. According to Hitachi, the new 15K147 2.5-inch hard drive is designed for more than 70 percent efficiency compared to standard 3.5-inch hard drives. These new models are available in capacities of 73GB and 147GB, even with a 64 MB cache buffer, it boasts a 15,000 RPM speeds and is equipped with Hitachi's own Advanced Power Management technology.
